This is due to the variety of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item. It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. The average item level can be found in the character sheet. Utilizing the level of an item can help players compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be capable of dealing with. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done by using the item's level. The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full item description, including its ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat. There are several theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. item upgrade takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth, and also that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item. This isn't the only factor that affects the level of an item. The location of where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances. Item Stats The stats of an item can make or break an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill. Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats of the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher prices. Another way to change the stats on an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could do things like give the item extra damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item. All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling. Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat in that range unless they are an item that is unique or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss. Another thing that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Similar to the base equipment, it must be done per item, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once. Item Luck A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the strength of the properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves and is thus more beneficial in the early game than in later ones, since most players prefer more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains. In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing. The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140. Additionally some items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients. Item Failure Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful. When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which success rates can be increased and the chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%.. The Luck of an item can affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent. The upgrade overlays of the item are displayed above items in the inventory. This could cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
